Today's card is.... the Five of Cups

Oy, what did we do to deserve such sadness? Look at all we've lost, who cares if the future is still full of promise, let's not forget what's been spilled, spoiled, splattered....

Well, that's enough. There is a bigger world out there than our own particular immediate sadness. Do you remember the ice cream cone you dropped when you were a wee child of six? Well, do you? Time changes everything, or so it seems. The heartbreaking event we live through is one small particle in a whole current of events. Eventually we lift our heads to see what's going on around us, and we notice that the stream is still rushing by, perhaps fuller than ever. We realize that what was spilled could very well have been poisonous. We still have things to try, bridges to cross, castles to explore, life to taste and experience.

That's not to say we deny our current situation of sadness and loss. As a way of establishing balance on the inside, it's important to remember that this is but one isolated moment that will invevitably change. Nature empties what is full and fills what is empty, in other words, "this too shall pass."

The Expos, that would be the spilled cup. And lo and behold, hockey season is starting again, that would be the full cup. Or the other way around, depending on your point of view... :-)
